Little Lemon Friends Pixel Lemons
Introduction
With pixel lemons set to release on Feb 15, 2022, this article will cover what we envision for our lemons in the metaverse, details about this upcoming pixel lemon release, and the additional capabilities built into this release compared to what was announced in our January town hall.
Our Vision For The Pixel Lemons
For the Little Lemon Friends project, we aim to build a sustainable long term brand that will stand the test of time by delivering meaningful value for all holders to enjoy.
As the creation and expansion of Web3 continues, we envision our lemon holders will be able to enter and hop between different metaverse locations as their lemons in different forms such as pixels and in the future 3D/voxels. Imagine a bunch of little lemons running around and hanging out together! We can even host town halls, events, and games as a community.
Also, we would like our lemon holders to have the ability to use the lemons as a single identity (AKA single Digital ID) across various social media platforms and the metaverse.
Web3 Today, And Where It Is Going
With the majority of people already using NFTs to represent them in the Web3 space, as metaverses (and digital worlds) become more prevalent, the significance of the digital identity aspect of PFP NFTs has increased exponentially.
NFT avatars will play an even more integral role when it comes to identity, community, and social experiences in the metaverse.
Our Original Plan For The Pixel Lemons
Our original plan announced in our January Town Hall was that holders would get a separate pixel NFT/collection with corresponding 1:1 traits with a possibility of some new traits.
This plan was made when it was most common for NFT projects to create a separate metaverse ready NFT collection, but now we see a shift in the market where this approach may not be the most optimal. If we went with our original plan, it would be awkward if someone were to sell their pixel version of their lemon, leaving the original lemon without metaverse access, yet another person having your lemon but in a pixel form resulting in conflicts of identity.
In other words, the original plan could diminish the value in both existing lemon and pixel lemon collections as the Web3 space evolves due to lack of unique identity as required for PFP NFTs.
It is different from collections such as mutant versions or companion NFTs because pixel lemons are very closely aligned with the existing lemons carrying the same traits.
Opportunity
We have noticed the new evolution of the space, therefore, this pixel lemon release presents us with the timely opportunity to build the foundation required so each lemon is ready to capitalize on what Web3 can offer. As a result, we have incorporated the required foundational capabilities into this release.
This Pixel Lemon Release
We are super excited to announce that we have collaborated with the legend @thedudesnft to allow all lemon holders to be able to upgrade their existing lemons into an interactive NFT! It will be 100% free to do the upgrade and holders will be able to do it whenever they want on the website starting Feb, 15th.
With just one click of a button in the actual NFT itself, you will be able to view the two different versions of your lemon, thus combining both into one NFT in a non-dilutive way.
That means you can be your lemon as a single digital identity, jumping from metaverse locations/worlds to another! Your lemon is an actual entity/avatar in the digital realm that is an extension of you.
This will provide value to the Little Lemon Friends NFT both in the short and long term, building a strong foundation for the project and brand. Now when someone is looking to purchase a lemon, they will instantly be able to see what the lemon looks like in the metaverse as an avatar :D

Looking Ahead
For the Little Lemon Friends project, we want to explore the many ways in how we can innovate and grow in this space. The whole space is still very new so there is much to discover!
With this pixel lemon release not being a separate NFT/collection, it opens so many new opportunities for the lemons and it doesn’t mean that there won’t be a new collection for holders later on. Who knows, there may even be a separate pixel collection in the future! (Not Alpha)
We can’t wait to have all our Little Lemon Friends as part of the pioneers in this exciting adventure together.
